TECTONIC FRAGMENTS STUDIO
This studio focused on the exploration of tectonic connections and transitions using the details to inform design. Each of the seven section models either explores new ideas for further develops details explored in previous section models. The program was a workshop for a wooden boat builder. The site was sectioned from the river to the road. While each the seven models may seem independent of the others, consideration for the connection and interaction of adjacent models was required. The connection of two differing systems becomes another design problem. All work is to be done exclusively on the model. The second half of the semester, key details are chosen to be explored further through drawing and additional modeling.
